Union Plus Matching Grant

Union Plus has a program to boost your college savings. If you are a union member or retiree with the AFL-CIO, Union Plus offers one $500 match per family for deposits made to any new 529 account that total at least $1000.

The account must have been opened after July 1, 2011, the Account Owner must be a participating union member or retiree, and the Student Beneficiary must have been no more than 12 years old when the account was opened.

If you meet these qualifications, it's easy to apply.

• Check first to see if your union is participating in this offer

• Download, print and complete the grant application

• Log in to your GET account and click on "Account Summary." Print out a current statement of your GET account and include it with the Union Plus form. Mail both the statement and the form to:

• According to the site, you should receive the grant within 4-5 weeks.

If you first need to change the name of the Account Owner, complete an Account Owner Change Form, have it notarized and return it to: GET Program, P.O. Box 43450, Olympia, WA 98504-3450.
